OPM (a shortcut for optical
precision metrology) was founded in 1998. Based on many years of experience
in the field of optical sensors and measurement technology, the company
made it to its business to push the development of the autofocus technology
for metrology purposes into the new century.
Based on the analysis of a wide range of technical surfaces, OPM developed
a new generation of optical sensors. These sensors are based on custom
optics and electronics to overcome the disadvantages of the previous constructions.
Custom construction allowed OPM to provide a unique sensor manufactured
to stringent quality requirements.
OPM is dedicated to the continual development and production of precise
and innovative measurement instruments. The products are used for quality
management in the electronics and automotive industry, mechanical engineering
and telecom industry. The superior measurement capability of the instruments
makes them an ideal choice for the research departments too.

The AF16 autofocus
sensor unites
unequalled measurement speed, precision and resolution into one
single system.
This combination qualifies the AF16 for demanding applications.
Due to the auto-focussing principle, the sensor is ideally suited
for coherent surfaces. For highly structured and/or discontinuous
surfaces, the family of confocal sensors should be considered
|
| Starting in 2000, OPM introduced
a family of confocal sensors to supplement the AF16 autofocus sensor.
These sensors exhibit most simple set-up and operation on highly
structured, uncooperative and problematic surfaces. The extraordinary
dynamic range of the sensors allows for the measurement of surfaces
with a large variation on local reflectivity or steep edges without
the necessity to adapt sensor or measurement settings.
|
 |
| Therefore, these sensors are ideally
suited for operation even by unskilled operators.
The confocal sensors KF3 or Tele are the first
choice for applications
requiring simple control and automation tasks even on uncooperative
samples. The latest member of the confocal sensor family consists
of the C1 white light sensor.
The miniature sensor head is purely passive. Therefore, the white light sensor may be easily
utilized for OEM integration.

All sensors may be integrated into
the Hyperion measurement system. The system consists of a precision
xy-stage, the granite and an integrated motor controller. The measurement
system is controlled by a standard PC (optionally a laptop) running the Windows® XP
software package Inspector.
